Vision

To educate citizens of compassion who serve the public good at the 吃瓜大本营 and around the world.

Mission

To engage innovative pedagogy, programming, and scholarship to 1) prepare students who think, feel, and act to reduce suffering in their relationships, workplaces, communities, and the environment; 2) support educators and leaders who aim to create communities of compassionate citizens; and 3) cultivate a compassionate space for learning, educating, and being in the midst of challenging times.听

What We Do

The 4D Compassion Lab is a hub that provides students, educators, and leaders鈥攁t 吃瓜大本营 and beyond鈥攚ith learning opportunities and resources to develop the character virtue of compassion in themselves and others. This work includes:听

A top-level definition of compassion is responding to the pain and suffering of others. Empathy is being able to say, 鈥淚 see that you鈥檙e in pain,鈥 but compassion is the ability to recognize that others are suffering and then relate and respond in a meaningful, empathic way.
