Josef Korbel School Announces New Name Reflecting Mission and Global Impact

We are pleased to share that the Josef Korbel School of International Studies is officially changing its name to the Josef Korbel School of Global and Public Affairs.
Endorsed by the ԹϴӪ’s Board of Trustees, this change signals Korbel’s strategic evolution and a deepened commitment to educating leaders equipped for the realities of a world where global and domestic issues are inseparable.
The Korbel School’s programs now encompass a broad and integrated approach to global affairs, international relations, public policy, governance, development, and human rights—areas critical to addressing the most pressing issues of our time.
This change reinforces the school’s identity as a hub for interdisciplinary scholarship and action at the intersection of global and public policy. It also signals to prospective students, faculty, and partners that the Korbel School is a place for those who seek to make a difference—locally, nationally, and globally.
Dean Fritz Mayer said the name change reflects the school’s commitment to fresh thinking and bold leadership.
“The name change is not a departure,” says Dean Mayer. “It’s a declaration of our enduring commitment to our founding values, but one that better reflects who we are today. We don’t just study issues, we train future leaders to act on them. We engage with public policy at all levels, from the global to the local. And we recognize that the public good is co-produced by governments, businesses and civil society organizations.”
Please join us in celebrating this new era for the Josef Korbel School of Global and Public Affairs.
