吃瓜大本营 Celebrates Earth Day 2021 With Day of 吃瓜大本营-ing

On Friday, April 23 the 吃瓜大本营 celebrated Earth Day听with its annual Earth Day of 吃瓜大本营-ing. The University鈥檚 Center for Sustainability convened 115 volunteers from across campus who collectively completed nearly 200听hours of work over the course of the day.

Though social distancing and other COVID guidelines necessitated a smaller event, volunteers were able to work in shifts at three separate sites to make an impact on the Earth and the 吃瓜大本营 community.

The first project, dubbed the "clean community crew," collected 20 bags of trash in the neighborhoods around 吃瓜大本营. Meanwhile, volunteers at 吃瓜大本营鈥檚 Bridge Community Garden cleared compost, spread mulch, pulled weeds, cleared debris and repaired garden beds. Others cleared a fence and other yard debris at听a听house renovated by 吃瓜大本营 students participating in the Solar Decathlon.

Emily Schosid, 吃瓜大本营鈥檚 sustainability program coordinator, called this year鈥檚 Earth Day event 鈥渁 huge success."
