Install NVivo 15 on macOS
This guide walks you through the complete installation process for NVivo 15, including managing security permissions and initial project setup. Follow these steps to accept common macOS security restrictions and successfully launch the application.

Install NVivo
- Double-click the NVivo 15.5.1 macOS standalone ZIP file to extract.
- Open the extracted NVivo 15.5.1 macOS Standalone folder.
- Expand the macOS folder.
- Double-click "install NVivo 15.command"
- Click Done on the security warning.
- Open System Settings.
- Select Privacy & Security.
- Click Open Anyway for Install NVivo 15.command.
- Confirm by clicking Open Anyway.
- Enter the administrator password and click OK.
- Allow Terminal to access files in the Downloads folder if asked.
- Open the Applications folder.
- Select NVivo 15.
- Open NVivo 15's Full Disk Access settings.
- Enable Full Disk Access for NVivo 15.
- Return to the Applications folder.
- Open NVivo 15.
- NVivo 15 should now be installed and activated.
Do not distribute this bundle outside the licensed organization. It contains the

Install NVivo 15 On Windows
These instructions are for 吃瓜大本营 users installing NVivo 15 on their own Windows computer. The package installs and licenses NVivo automatically.

- Before you begin
You need:
- A supported Windows computer;
- An internet connection;
- Administrator rights on the computer; and the complete NVivo15-Windows-Standalone.zip file provided by 吃瓜大本营 IT.
- Save your work and close other applications before starting. Windows may need to be restarted after installation.
- Do not share or publicly upload the ZIP. It contains 吃瓜大本营 licensing information.
- Find NVivo15-Windows-Standalone.zip in File Explorer, usually in your Downloads folder.
- Right-click the ZIP and select Extract All.
- Choose an extraction location and select Extract.
Run the Installer
- Open the extracted NVivo15-Windows-Standalone folder
- Select the 'windows' folder
- Double-click START HERE - Install NVivo 15.cmd.
- If Windows asks whether to allow the app to make changes, select Yes.
- Leave the command window open while the installation runs.
The installation is intentionally quiet. You may not see the usual NVivo setup screens or a progress bar. Do not close the command window or turn off the computer while it is working.
If the command window closes without showing an error, installation and licensing completed successfully. If it remains open with red error text, take a screenshot before closing it.
Launch NVivo
- 听
- Open the Windows Start menu.
- Search for NVivo 15.
- Select NVivo 15 to open it.
- NVivo should open without requesting an enterprise key. The first launch may still ask you to create or confirm your personal NVivo user profile. This profile identifies your work inside NVivo projects and is different from software licensing.
- Click OK

If Windows requests a restart
Save your work and restart the computer. Open NVivo 15 after signing back in.
听
Troubleshooting
The package says it was not fully extracted
Close the command window. Return to the original ZIP, right-click it, and select Extract All. Do not open or run the command from inside the ZIP preview.
Windows does not show an administrator prompt
Right-click START HERE - Install NVivo 15.cmd and select Run as administrator. If you do not know an administrator password, contact your local IT support team.
Red error text appears
Take a screenshot showing the complete error.听 Send the screenshot to IT. Do not send NVivoAuthCode.txt or post it in a support ticket that other users can view.
NVivo asks for a license or enterprise key
Confirm the computer was connected to the internet during installation. If it was, send IT the installation log so they can check the activation result.
NVivo is not listed in the Start menu
Restart the computer and search again. If it is still missing, send IT the installation log.
After installation
After NVivo opens successfully, delete the extracted installation folder and ZIP from your computer. Deleting the installer does not uninstall NVivo.
Contact 吃瓜大本营 IT before uninstalling NVivo so the license can be deactivated and returned for reuse.
